Wynn Resorts Launches Virtual Volunteer Program For Employees
LAS VEGAS (April 15, 2020) – Wynn Resorts is expanding its approach to community service with the launch of its new Virtual Volunteer program, a digital platform for employees to give back through national and local online volunteer opportunities. From assisting the visually impaired to mentoring high school students to building websites for small businesses, employees can choose from hundreds of ways to offer their personal and professional skills to help people in need.
"Wynn employees volunteer more than 50,000 hours every year at Company-sponsored events in support of our vital nonprofit partners," said Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox. "This commitment to service doesn't stop just because it can't be done in person. The Virtual Volunteer program is an innovative new way to think about volunteering and keeps our employees close to the causes they care about most."
Virtual volunteer opportunities are available in dozens of cause areas including crisis relief, mental health, technology, business services, the arts, childhood and continuing education, assisting veterans, and many more. National and local partners in Las Vegas and Boston will continue to be added, and currently include:
- American Corporate Partners
- Be My Eyes
- Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada
- Bread of Life
- Career Village
- Cradles to Crayons
- Kline Veterans Fund
- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept.
- Message of Hope
- Missing Maps Mapathon
- Nevada Diabetes Association
- Operation Gratitude
- Opportunity Village
- Smithsonian Digital Volunteers
- Strive For College
- Tech Soup
- Translators Without Borders
To meet their most immediate needs nonprofit partners can request help with specific tasks, like the current ask from Opportunity Village for employee participation in a homemade greeting card drive. "As we continue our mission of providing services to individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, we also continue to need support from our community," said Bob Brown, President and CEO of Opportunity Village. In other cases employees will provide longer commitments, like becoming a sighted volunteer who virtually connects with blind or low-vision individuals in need via the Be My Eyes app. "Be My Eyes provides free, 24/7 sight support to any person who needs it, and our platform is powered by volunteers and companies that care," said Will Butler, Vice President of Community at Be My Eyes.
Nonprofit organizations can request participation in the Virtual Volunteer program by completing the assessment survey on the Wynn Employee Foundation website at wef.wynnresorts.com.
