Acclaimed Chef Brings His Michelin-Starred Japanese Cuisine and Sushi Expertise

to the Newly Redesigned Mizumi

LAS VEGAS (Jan. 23, 2023) – Wynn Las Vegas is pleased to welcome celebrated chef Jeff Ramsey as the new executive chef of Mizumi, the resort's iconic fine dining Japanese restaurant. With Michelin Star recognition and more than two decades of experience in traditional and progressive Japanese cuisine and sushi, Ramsey's inventive, modern techniques will provide guests with an elevated experience at the recently redesigned Mizumi.

"I'm excited to join such an incredibly talented team and look forward to contributing to the legacy of Mizumi," said Ramsey. "Together, we will continue to evolve Mizumi's offerings with enhanced guest favorites and creative new dishes."

Born in Japan and raised in the United States, Ramsey began working as a dishwasher in a local Maryland restaurant in 1996 and spent several years working his way up the kitchen ranks to sushi chef. Realizing his passion for sushi, Ramsey then traveled to Japan to train with the official Sushi Ambassador of Japan, Masayoshi Kazato, and earned his diploma as a "Master of the Art of Sushi" from the All Japanese Sushi Association. Ramsey took a detour from the realm of sushi to broaden his education by studying under world-renowned Spanish chef and restaurateur, José Andrés, where he further developed his bold and experimental style.

Ramsey's worldly culinary experience continued evolving through his time at award-winning restaurants in Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and the United States. As the executive chef of Tapas Molecular Bar at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Ramsey earned and maintained a Michelin Star from 2009 until his departure in 2011. Ramsey continued to hone his skills as a consultant for various global pop-up restaurants until opening his first restaurant, Babe, as owner, chef and director in 2015. With experience as a restaurateur added to his resumé, he introduced the modern Japanese kaiseki and sushi omakase concept, Kintsugi by Jeff Ramsey, in 2019, which was named a Michelin-selected restaurant in 2022 and 2023. Ramsey was further recognized for his culinary prowess in 2022, receiving the notable title of Winning Challenger Chef for Iron Chef Thailand.
