Wynn Las Vegas Announces New Master Classes for 2018

LAS VEGAS (January 3, 2018) – Wynn Las Vegas continues its experiential program, the Wynn Master Class Series, further expanding opportunities for guests to go behind the scenes and learn from the experts inside exclusive areas throughout the resort. Each month, resort staff leads instructional and interactive sessions with guests—both in intimate and large format group settings—featuring cooking demos, cake decorating and floral arrangement workshops, as well as appreciation and tasting courses.

The thoughtfully curated master classes span across the resort’s restaurants, back-of-house kitchens, casino, bakeries and beyond. A selection of new classes fill the year’s roster, as well as returning courses due to popular demand and advanced versions of previous workshops. The Wynn Master Class Series continues with the following programming, with additional classes and workshops to be announced later this year:

Thursday, January 18: Florist for a Day
From concept to finished masterpieces, participants will become part of the team that creates the gorgeous floral displays found throughout the five-star resort. Join Floral Manager Evelyn Herrera for a guided tour of the floral studio, while Floral Designer Camille Lopez shares pro tips on bringing bouquets to life and maintaining them in your own home. Guests will sip champagne and enjoy small treats while creating arrangements to take home. The master class is held inside Wynn’s Floral Studio and begins at 10 a.m.; $150 per person.

Friday, January 19: Master Tailgating Class
Guests are invited to elevate their game day entertaining by mastering Hall of Fame-caliber food from the playbooks of Tableau’s Executive Chef Rene Lenger and Jason Duarte, executive chef of Charlie’s Bar + Grill. Participants will make everything from pretzels with pub cheese and spicy Buffalo wings to loaded baked potato dip and game day chili. The master class begins at 2 p.m. at Andrea’s; $150 per person.

Friday, February 9: Sweet Smackdown – Battle of the Pastry Chefs
Maria Mac, executive pastry chef of Costa di Mare and Andy Jin, executive pastry chef of SW Steakhouse and Lakeside go whisk-to-whisk in an ultimate sweets smackdown. From flavor and texture to forming and plating professionally, guests will learn the secrets to creating restaurant quality desserts at home, all while sampling each chef’s delicious final product. The master class begins at 2 p.m. at Lakeside; $125 per person.

Friday, February 23: Fearless Seafood Cooking
In this interactive cooking class, Costa di Mare’s Executive Chef Mark LoRusso helps guests demystify seafood cookery, demonstrating how to prepare simple, satisfying and delicious dishes at home. Participants will learn professional tips and techniques for their next seafood cooking adventure, while sampling Costa di Mare’s fresh and seasonal specialties. The master class begins at 12 p.m. at Costa di Mare; $150 per person.

Thursday, March 1: Decorate Cakes Like a Pro – An Advanced Master Class
In this advanced, hands-on workshop, Wynn’s Master Cake Artist Flora Aghababyan, a two-time winner of the Food Network’s Cake Challenge, invites guests into her private studio to share her expertise on professional cake decorating techniques. Participants will learn how to master icing, piping and ornate décor application, while working on their own tiered wedding cake. Held inside Wynn’s Pastry Shop, the class begins at 2 p.m.; $195 per person.

Friday, March 16: Master Sake Class
Dive into the world of premium sake with this lively, fun and informative class led by Mizumi’s kikisake-Shi (certified sake sommelier) Aaron Baek and Wynn’s Executive Director of Wine Mark Thomas. Together Aaron and Mark will walk guests through the sake production process and explain how master brewers produce what the Japanese call “the drink of the Gods.” The master class will demystify the numerous sake classifications, while guests taste test various sakes and savory snacks. The master class begins at 3 p.m. at Mizumi; $150 per person.

Thursday, March 22: Mastering Bread Baking
Back by popular demand, Master Artisan Baker Johann Willar once again invites guests behind the scenes and into Wynn’s busy bake shop, as he shares recipes and techniques for achieving professional results when baking at home. Participants can follow along as he crafts a perfect crusty baguette and a soft Pullman loaf. This exclusive workshop with Chef Johann includes a casual charcuterie lunch. Held inside Wynn’s Bread Bakery, the workshop begins at 2 p.m. $150 per person.

Thursday, March 29: Master Class in Cheese & Wine Appreciation
This master class gives guests the chance to explore the complex flavors and the incredible variety of cheese produced by skilled artisans worldwide, alongside the wines that truly enhance them. Joseph Zanelli, executive chef of Jardin teams up with Wynn’s Executive Director of Wine Mark Thomas to guide participants on a delectable immersion into the world of cheese and wine, while sampling a variety of selections. The master class is held on Jardin’s patio at 3 p.m. $150 per person.

Saturday, April 21: Cooking, Sinatra Style
Join Sinatra’s Executive Chef Luke Palladino and the legendary performer’s granddaughter AJ Lambert, for an interactive workshop in crafting handmade pasta and simple techniques for preparing some of Frank’s favorite dishes, his way. Meanwhile, AJ will share stories about Frank’s passion for cooking and secrets behind the dishes, followed by a casual lunch. The master class begins at 12 p.m. at Sinatra; $175 per person.  

Friday, April 27: Master Grilling & Wine Pairing Class
David Walzog, executive chef of SW Steakhouse and Lakeside invites guests to an exclusive outdoor grilling class on the Lake of Dreams, where he will share his secrets for selecting cuts, seasoning steak, ribs and poultry and achieving the perfect char every time. In this interactive master class, Chef Walzog will take participants behind the grill, while Wynn’s Executive Director of Wine Mark Thomas shares his strategies and tips for selecting complementary wine pairings. A casual lunch with the masters is included. The master class begins at 1 p.m. at SW Steakhouse; $175 per person.
