Wynn Las Vegas And Elon Musk's Tunnel Transportation Company Submit Land-Use Application

LAS VEGAS (June 9, 2020) –Wynn Las Vegas and Elon Musk's tunnel transportation company recently submitted a land-use application to Clark County for the design of an underground tunnel that will connect the resort to the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). In this connector, Tesla vehicles will transport passengers between Encore at Wynn Las Vegas and the LVCC in under 2 minutes. This new connector adds to a separate Loop system already under construction at the LVCC that transports convention attendees between exhibition halls. The LVCC Loop, part of LVCC's expansion, is slated to be finished by January 2021.

The connector is an important step for Wynn as the resort continues its investments in the future of eco-friendly meetings and conventions in Las Vegas. In February 2020, Wynn debuted its new 430,000-square-foot meeting and convention expansion, which more than doubled the rentable meeting and convention space at Wynn and Encore to 560,000-square-feet. Like all existing event space, the expansion is powered by 100 percent renewable energy sourced and delivered directly from the off-site 160-acre Wynn Solar Facility as well as on-site rooftop solar panels, an industry first for a gaming operator in Nevada. There is no other meeting and convention space in Las Vegas providing this benefit to clients.

In late 2019, Wynn also introduced its new Zero Carbon, Zero Waste Event service for Wynn and Encore convention clients. Developed in tandem with Wynn's Energy and Sustainability Department, the service ensures the most sustainable event possible using a six-point zero carbon, zero waste method that is overseen by specially trained Convention Services Managers.

Wynn Las Vegas and Encore currently hold Four Green Globes, the highest sustainable building certification from the Green Building Initiative, the definitive qualifier of energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable buildings.
